Hi, I'm John Rundell. I'm on the committee of the Brighton Bathing Box Association. And we have a number of responsibilities, which includes looking after the physical security of the 96 bathing boxes on Dendy Street beach. They're an iconic part to Melbourne. And we have a number of challenges with keeping them looking as wonderful as they are.
We have security on the beach, physical security, but we needed to look at ways to ensure we have 24 hour coverage. I was referred to Michael Hain from Security Heroes, and he has been assisting us in scoping up and working out how to provide CCTV coverage in a challenging beachfront environment.
There are a number of challenges, not just the beach frontage location, which is a very hostile marine environment. There's the challenges of ensuring that issues of privacy issues with the council and police. The police are always very sensitive of CCTV being placed in the public location. This beach is actually not Crown Land, it's council-owned land. And we have been in negotiations with the council. And Michael with his extensive experience and knowledge of the industry has been able to provide examples and precedents that have assisted us in negotiating with the Bayside Council. We're on a journey. And it may well be another 12 to 18 months before we get final approval to install CCTV here, but Michael's with us for the journey.
From the perspective of this public location, Security Heroes, and Michael in particular, have done a fantastic job in guiding us through the challenges. He's someone that could deal with complex personal security in the home or for businesses.
It's not just a standard product that he's offering. It's a customised solution. And in our case, we have a very challenging environment, both physical and within the regulatory and oversight area, to work our way through. And he's been with us on the journey.
So he's been great for helping us move forward to achieve the goal of improving the security on the beach, which is not just for the bathing box owners. It also will make tourists and visitors to the beach also feel safer.
A final point that I should cover is that Michael had a detailed and intimate knowledge of the players within the industry, and those that had the track record to be able to deliver on what we're looking to obtain. There are many companies that provide CCTV equipment but there are only a few specialists firms that have the capability and track record of working with councils and state government authorities to place CCTV in public locations. So he guided us through the minefield of who to deal with because we had a number of firms approaching us but they really had no track record or credibility when it came to authorities and other councils.
